120,000 Hoteliers Receive Five Times More Clicks by Using trivago Hotel Manager

September 29, 2015

The newly enhanced platform provides hoteliers with a more intuitive architecture and focuses on hotel information, reputation and rates.

Düsseldorf, Germany – September 29, 2015 – trivago, the world’s largest hotel metasearch, announced the global relaunch of its free trivago Hotel Manager (tHM) platform today. Over 120,000 hoteliers use trivago Hotel Manager to build a unique profile in order to rank higher and receive five times more clicks on average than those who don’t have a profile.

Registered, top-ranked hotels receive 35% of their bookings through trivago

“We were impressed when we found out that registered, top-ranked hotels receive 35% of their bookings through trivago. This illustrates the significance of our platform to hotel owners and marketeers and delivers tangible results to hoteliers’ businesses,” says Johannes Thomas, Managing Director and Head of Hotel Relations at trivago. trivago receives the hotels’ content from Online Travel Agents who want to advertize hotels on the world’s leading hotel metasearch. However, profiles are not always up-to-date or complete. “And that’s where the hotelier comes in. We see hoteliers as the most valuable source of our information for their hotels. They know best what they are good at and we want to present those insights to our users. A unique and up-to-date hotel profile results in more clicks from travelers, which positively influences their ranking on trivago as well,“ Thomas added.

Data shows that hotels using trivago Hotel Manager are seeing an average increase of more than five times more clicks (467%) to their properties than hotels who leave their profile as is. In countries such as Spain or Germany, this number goes up as high as 14 and 12 times respectively.

47% of travelers use hotel metasearch sites to compare prices

Almost every other traveler (47%) uses hotel metasearch sites to compare prices, according to ResearchNow data from 2013-2015*. trivago itself saw 59% growth during 2015 in users searching for their ideal hotel. Simultaneously, the number of hoteliers managing their trivago profiles has more than doubled every year in the last seven years (119%) on average. This resulted in a need to further scale up the trivago Hotel Manager platform and improve its usability for the hoteliers and marketeers.

New trivago Hotel Manager is focused on hotel information, reputation and rates

The new streamlined, more intuitive navigation focuses on three main hospitality pillars: hotel information, reputation and rates. These pillars enable hoteliers to find a variety of easy-to-use features to manage and improve their hotel profile on trivago:

  • Hotel information: This is where hoteliers can easily start editing their profile by uploading high-quality images, composing hotel descriptions in different languages, completing their hotel amenities & services and keeping hotel information up-to-date in order to rank higher.
  • Reputation: This is where hoteliers can benchmark their performance based on the trivago Rating Index. This rating – often referred to as ‘the smiley’ – enables hoteliers to understand the level of guest satisfaction based on the aggregated reviews and ratings coming from different sites.
  • Rates: This is where hoteliers can find information about how rates on trivago are included and what factors play a role in the positioning of the hoteliers’ rates on trivago. trivago Hotel Manager provides detailed benchmarking graphs in order to ensure that hoteliers oversee factors such as deal diversity and competitive rates in order to rank higher.

“trivago Hotel Manager gives hoteliers direct control over their hotel profile by letting them build a unique profile and attract even more guests. These unique hotel profiles personalize the search process and better inform travelers on their decisions. A match made perfect,” added Thomas.

trivago Hotel Manager was created to help hoteliers build a unique profile, thereby making the trivago audience choose their hotel and increasing their revenue. trivago Hotel Manager is currently available in eight languages, on four continents and across 17 country platforms. Hotel owners must be registered on trivago Hotel Manager to use the free service. They can access the platform via www.trivago.com/hotelmanager.
