Java Engineer – Meta as a Service

In our Meta as a Service unit, we handle the core of trivago’s business: ensure that every user sees the best accommodations for the best prices. To make this happen, we build and maintain a highly available and scalable micro service system in the cloud. How you’ll make an impact:

  • Deliver features in joint force with data scientists and site reliability engineers 
  • Bring machine learning applications to production
  • Drive ideas that bring trivago’s value proposition forward
  • Conduct code reviews that would ensure our tech remains at the state of the art
  • Consistently improve our processes around development, deployment, and disaster recovery 

Who we’re looking for:

  • You’d bring at least 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience in a similar position
  • You enjoy working in Java and have relevant experience and knowledge using Java professionally
  • You are not scared of working on data heavy applications based on Kafka
  • You have experience of adding metrics at the right spots for effective alerting and monitoring
  • You know you know the value and importance of not falling behind on one’s own quality standards
  • You are proficient in English (our company language) at a fluent level

What makes you stand out:

  • You know the adrenaline rush when pushing a broken application to production
  • You have worked already together with either data scientists or site reliability engineers
  • You would be up for participating in the knowledge sharing in our guilds
You’d be working with a lot of PhDs, top-notch engineers, and freaking smart people. Any form of formal education that would allow you to speak eye-to-eye to them is appreciated, e.g. a background in a STEM field.
