People Lead – Payroll & Compensation

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Lead our Compensation, Benefits & Payroll team with a team of specialists and be the first point of contact in all matters regarding compensation and benefits
  • Consult our internal payroll specialists and external payroll provider on taxation and payroll decisions
  • Partner with the leadership team & key stakeholder to develop and implement a revised reward strategy and philosophy for trivago
  • Analyse, challenge and shape existing compensation programs and model potential alternatives that match trivago’s innovative culture and values.
  • Ensure continuous review and improvement of our job & reward architecture to ensure internal pay equity and external market competitiveness
  • Guide specialists responsible for the annual salary review process, including driving annual review of pay ranges and strategic fit
  • Oversee and manage the preparation of benchmarks, forecasts, and budget planning to advise our Stakeholders in strategic decision or salary adjustments
  • Oversee and manage the long-term incentive programs and benefits trivago offers to maximize strategic workforce decisions
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll team and make sure that end to end payroll activities run smooth
  • Lead process optimization and continuous improvements in the compensation & payroll team


Who we’re looking for:

  • Graduate in Business Administration, Human Resources or similar that uses quantitative analysis. Masters level a plus
  • An authority in the field of compensation & benefits, ideally payroll experience with a proven track record
  • Knowledge of DACH payroll, tax legislation, labor law and social security
  • Knowledge of Dutch and Spain payroll and legislation would be a plus
  • Excellent communication skills that allow you to work cross-functionally, conveying your ideas with clarity and confidence to varied groups of stakeholders (peers and leadership team).
  • An analytical mindset that allows you to break down, understand and construct logical processes.
  • Adaptability and solution-orientation. Thinking on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • An eye for details. You can spot the errors that others might miss.
  • Strong Excel skills. You’ll have to know your way around writing formulas, creating a pivot table and be able to draw insights from data. Exposure to Workday, PowerBI, Loga, DATEV or other financial payroll modules is a plus.
  • Fluent English (our company language).
